Zapata Westerns - Zapata Westerns, nickname given to a subgenre of the so-called Italian "Spaghetti Westerns" which dealt with overtly political themes in the mid-to-late 1960s. They were named after Emiliano Zapata, the famous Mexican revolutionary from the Mexican Revolution of 1913, during which most of these films took place.
List of TV Westerns - A western television show is a cowboy story which takes place in the old west and involves cowboys, cattle ranchers, miners, farmers, Indians, guns and horses. It was the most popular genre of TV show in the 1950s and 1960s, when a couple hundred of them were aired.
John Ford - John Ford (February 1, 1894 – August 31, 1973) was one of the most accomplished American film directors of the 1930s to 1960s, known particularly as a director of the Westerns, although his tributes to the veterans of World War II and Americana are also equally effective. In recent years, it has been claimed that his westerns, particularly The Searchers, portray Native Americans in an unflattering light, though it has also been said that The Searchers is actually a critique of the pathology of American racism.
Budd Boetticher - Budd Boetticher (July 29, 1916-November 29, 2001) was a film director during the classical period in Hollywood most famous for the series of low-budget Westerns he made in the late 1950s starring Randolph Scott. Known for their sparse style, dramatic rocky locations near Lone Pine, California, and recurring stories of a lone man seeking vengeance amidst a brutal and abstract landscape, the films have, decades after their release, come to be known as some of the most important Westerns ever made, often compared to the works of existential writers or to Old Testament myths.
