Documentary photography - Documentary photography usually refers to a type of professional photojournalism, but it may also be an amateur or student persuit. The photographer attempts to produce truthful, objective, and usually candid photography of a particular subject, most often pictures of people.

Street photography - Street photography generally refers to photographs made in public places ā€” not only streets, but parks, beaches, malls, political conventions and myriad other settings ā€” often but not always featuring people going about their everyday lives. In one sense it can be thought of as a branch of documentary photography, but unlike traditional documentary its chief aim ā€” or at least its chief effect ā€” is seldom to document a particular subject, but rather to create photographs which strongly demonstrate the photographer's vision of the world.

Documentary (style) - Film style used in fictional films which replicates the ambience of a stereotypical documentary film, and consists principally of periods of voice-over narration delivered in a terse, reportorial style; crisp editing; and relatively stationary and straightforward photography. Most commonly seen in films of the early to mid-1950s based on the success of the style in the television program, Dragnet.
